Nyepi 2026 at COMO Uma Canggu Invites Reflection, Ritual and Renewal
As Bali prepares for its most sacred day of silence, COMO Uma Canggu curates a thoughtful COMO Journey with yoga teacher Ketut Ariani, honouring Nyepi through mindful movement, cultural immersion and meaningful stillness.
Desi Utami
Each year, Bali pauses.
For 24 hours, flights cease, roads empty, lights dim and daily life comes to a complete standstill. Nyepi, the Balinese New Year in the Saka calendar, is not merely a public holiday. It is a collective exhale. A spiritual reset rooted in centuries old Hindu tradition, dedicated to reflection, introspection and renewal.
On 19 March 2026, COMO Uma Canggu invites guests to experience this sacred transition through a consciously designed retreat set against the rhythmic calm of Canggu’s coastline. Blending ritual, breath and movement, the programme offers a rare opportunity to align with the island’s cultural heartbeat.
Honouring Pengerupukan
The evening before Nyepi carries an entirely different energy. Known as Pengerupukan Day, communities across Bali take to the streets with Ogoh Ogoh, large handcrafted effigies symbolising negative forces and disruptive energies. Accompanied by traditional music and ceremony, these striking figures are paraded before the island symbolically releases imbalance and prepares for silence.
On 18 March 2026 at 11.00am, COMO Uma Canggu will host its own Ogoh Ogoh parade within the property grounds, offering guests an intimate encounter with this meaningful tradition before the stillness begins.
