Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort Brings Education to Southwest Sumba

Luxury, at its finest, leaves a legacy. 

In February 2026, Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort marked a meaningful milestone as construction officially commenced on a new school in Southwest Sumba, in partnership with Bali Life Foundation. The initiative follows the success of its charity gala, An Evening of Elegance & Empathy, held on 14 November 2025, which raised IDR 500,000,000 dedicated entirely to improving access to education for the Tambolaka community.

On 12 February 2026, the groundbreaking ceremony took place, symbolising more than the start of a building project. It represented hope, opportunity, and a renewed commitment to communities beyond the resort’s shoreline.

From Gala Evening to Groundbreaking Impact

The funds raised will address urgent infrastructure challenges in the region, replacing unusable school facilities while improving sanitation and access to clean water. Once completed, the school will feature:

· Two fully equipped classrooms

· A dedicated teachers’ office

· Four modern toilets with running water

· A playground and athletic field

Designed to create a safe and nurturing learning environment, the new facility will support both students and educators with dignity and functionality.

The ceremony was inaugurated by The Regent of Southwest Sumba, Ibu Ratu Ngadu Bonu Wulla, and attended by Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort representatives including Jean Pierre Joncas, General Manager; Nia Edwards, Director of People & Culture; and Aulianty Fellina, Senior Director of Marketing Communications & PR. The moment was shared with the school’s 32 students and faculty, celebrating a collective step toward a brighter future.
