Ubud Village Jazz Festival Returns — A Pure Celebration of Jazz in Ubud

In the ever-evolving landscape of music and jazz festivals, the Ubud Village Jazz Festival (UVJF) remains firmly rooted in its core mission: to celebrate jazz and only jazz. While many events have expanded to mainstream or crossover acts, UVJF stays true to the soul of jazz, embracing its improvisational spirit and cultural depth.

Now in its 12th edition, UVJF returns this August at Sthala, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, delivering two days of authentic jazz set amidst the tranquil beauty of Ubud. The 2025 edition will feature two main stages to create a more intimate and immersive experience for both artists and audiences. This year’s lineup includes jazz luminaries from around the globe, such as Makoto Kuriya Trio (Japan), Balawan Trio feat. Jiyestha (Indonesia), ROUGE (France), Jazz Steps (Vietnam), and many more from Serbia, Germany, Russia, Czech Republic, and across Indonesia.

As always, UVJF is more than a music event—it’s a curated experience. The festival design, envisioned by Archimetriz Architect and Saung Construction, is inspired by the themes “The Space We Breathe” and “The Space Between Sounds”, mirroring the balance of sound and silence found in jazz. Pre- and post-event showcases will also take place at prestigious venues such as The Apurva Kempinski Nusa Dua, The Meru Sanur, Bumi Kinar Ubud, and Samasta Lifestyle Village Jimbaran. Over 30 local MSMEs will participate through F&B booths, offering a taste of Bali’s rich culinary landscape and supporting small businesses.

From bebop and bossa nova to funk-fusion and swing, Ubud Village Jazz Festival 2025 promises a return to jazz’s roots—pure, bold, and unfiltered.
