Glenfiddich and Aston Martin Formula One™ Team have introduced the Glenfiddich & Aston Martin Formula One™ Team 16-Year-Old Limited-Edition Release No.2, marking the second year of their partnership. Announced in Jakarta on October 10, 2026, the single malt draws inspiration from the precision behind whisky making and Formula One engineering.

The release connects the work of Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman with that of Aston Martin Formula One™ Team Managing Technical Partner Adrian Newey. Both disciplines require decisions made well ahead of the finished result, whether shaping a whisky through years of maturation or refining the airflow around a future racing car.

That connection informs the expression’s five-cask maturation, which brings Glenfiddich’s fruit-led style together with different layers of sweetness, texture, and oak.

Five casks shape the character

The 16-year-old whisky combines the influence of first-fill bourbon barrels, Port pipes, Oloroso sherry casks, wine casks, and a final touch of Fino sherry butts. Each contributes to the expression’s depth and structure, with the composition designed to keep the individual influences in balance.

Kinsman describes the collaboration as a reflection of the small, carefully refined decisions that shape both a racing car and a whisky. For this release, his focus was on bringing the five cask types together into a cohesive expression, balancing fruit, warmth, and texture.

Bottled at 43% ABV, the whisky’s tasting notes describe stewed fruit and floral aromas, with hints of marzipan and polished leather. A drop of water is said to bring forward fresher, ripe fruit. The palate is mellow and silky, with creamy toffee sweetness and caramelized cane sugar balanced by dry oak tannins, followed by a lingering finish of oaky sweetness.
