Indonesia Enters A New Tourism High With Record Spending And Smarter Travel Experiences
Stronger demand and smarter travel experiences push Indonesia into a new tourism high.
Indonesia’s tourism sector is stepping into a powerful new chapter as international spending and innovative travel initiatives reach record levels. The latest global report places Indonesia among the top destinations showing strong and sustainable growth for 2025.
Indonesia is projected to reach IDR 344 trillion in international visitor spending next year, according to the latest data from the World Travel and Tourism Council. This surpasses the previous 2019 peak and highlights the country’s continued strength as a global destination, with Bali leading the momentum.
The performance is driven by the steady return of global travelers, improved airline connectivity, and an expanding calendar of cultural and lifestyle events across the archipelago. Bali remains the primary gateway, recording millions of foreign arrivals and showing consistent month-to-month recovery.
Adding to the optimism, Bank Indonesia has officially launched the Indonesia Tourist Travel Pack at Ngurah Rai International Airport. This arrival solution includes a SIM card and a built-in digital wallet already connected to the national QR payment ecosystem. With this initiative, Indonesia aims to create a smoother, cash-light experience for travelers and support the country’s transition into a modern digital tourism landscape.
Industry players welcome this shift, noting that cashless consistency can elevate guest experience and streamline transactions for hotels, restaurants, and attractions. It also aligns with current global travel habits, where convenience and efficiency shape overall satisfaction.
Together, these developments signal a confident outlook. Indonesia is entering 2025 with strong spending power, rising traveler demand, and smarter travel infrastructure. The direction is clear. The country is moving toward a tourism era that is more connected, more curated, and built for long-term growth.
