Hyatt Regency Bali and Andaz Bali, by Hyatt bring back the Hyatt of Sanur Kite Festival 2026
This July, the skies above Sanur will once again transform into a moving canvas of colour, culture, and imagination as Hyatt Regency Bali and Andaz Bali, by Hyatt present the return of the Hyatt of Sanur Kite Festival.
Taking place on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, from 2.00 pm onwards, the annual celebration invites guests, local residents, and the Sanur community to gather along the beachfront of Hyatt Regency Bali for one of the area’s most anticipated cultural events.
Inspired by the theme “Colors of Bali, Voices of Nature,” this year’s festival draws from Tri Hita Karana, the Balinese philosophy of harmony between people, nature, and spirituality. The concept pays tribute to Sanur’s deep connection with the ocean, the fishermen who have shaped its coastal identity for generations, and the marine life that continues to bring character and rhythm to the shoreline.
What began as a friendly internal competition between colleagues has grown into the largest annual event shared by Hyatt Regency Bali and Andaz Bali, by Hyatt. Over the years, the Hyatt of Sanur Kite Festival has become a vibrant gathering where hotel guests, local residents, community members, and associates from both resorts come together in celebration of artistry, teamwork, and place.
At the heart of the festival is the giant kite competition. Teams representing various departments from Hyatt Regency Bali and Andaz Bali, by Hyatt will spend weeks crafting their concepts into impressive handmade kites, some reaching up to five metres in length. Inspired by Bali’s coastal heritage and the relationship between fishermen and the sea, each kite carries its own story before rising above Sanur Beach.
The celebration will begin with a lively parade from both resorts toward the festival grounds, accompanied by traditional gamelan music and cultural performances. Throughout the day, guests can enjoy Balinese dance performances, watch the friendly kite competition unfold along the shoreline, and explore a selection of beachfront culinary stalls offering local favourites, refreshing drinks, and family-friendly treats.
This year’s competition will be judged by respected Balinese kite artisans and cultural experts Kadek Armika and Kadek Meranggi, alongside a special guest judge. Each creation will be evaluated based on creativity, craftsmanship, storytelling, and overall presentation, highlighting not only the technical skill behind the kites but also the imagination and collaboration that bring each design to life.
As the afternoon softens into evening, the celebration continues at Fisherman’s Club, the beachfront seafood restaurant at Andaz Bali, by Hyatt, where invited media partners will enjoy an intimate early dinner and a special introduction to Andaz Twilight.
Inspired by the golden hours before sunset, Andaz Twilight brings Sanur’s beachfront into a relaxed seaside atmosphere with live entertainment, refreshing drinks, family-friendly activities, beach bonfires, and casual coastal dining. Designed to capture the easygoing spirit of summer, the experience invites guests to slow down and savour the transition from day to night by the sea.
With Sanur’s coastline as its backdrop, the Hyatt of Sanur Kite Festival continues to honour the traditions, stories, and community spirit that shape Bali today. It is more than a festival of kites. It is a celebration of heritage, creativity, and the joy of coming together beneath the open sky.
