COMO Beach Club Celebrates Indonesia’s Independence with Flavours of Freedom
Available throughout August 2026, the six-cocktail collection draws inspiration from Indonesia’s national colours, regional ingredients and enduring symbols of independence.
COMO Beach Club is marking Indonesia’s Independence Day with Flavours of Freedom, a limited-edition collection of six cocktails inspired by the colours, ingredients and character of the Indonesian archipelago.
Available throughout August 2026, the collection brings familiar Indonesian flavours into a contemporary beach-club setting, with each drink presenting a different expression of the country’s heritage, produce and national identity.
Six Cocktails Inspired by Indonesia
The collection begins with Garuda 45, named after the year Indonesia declared its independence. Dark rum and spiced arak are balanced with palm sugar and tart tamarind, creating a rich and complex cocktail that reflects the strength and significance of 1945.
Batavia Storm brings the energy of the capital to Bali’s coastline. Light rum, gula jawa and lime are lifted by Batavia ginger beer, resulting in a bright, refreshing highball with a lively finish. Indonesia’s national colours take centre stage in Red and White Elixir. Inspired by the Merah Putih, the cocktail layers vibrant strawberry with soft coconut foam, creating a playful yet meaningful tribute to the flag.
Nusantara Spice explores the aromatic character of the archipelago through pandan, clove honey and spiced rum. The composition celebrates Indonesia’s longstanding relationship with spice and its place in the nation’s culinary history.
Garuda Golden Flight offers a tropical interpretation of the national emblem, blending aged rum with mango, passionfruit and vanilla before finishing with a delicate golden accent. Completing the collection is Spirit of Nusantara, an arak-led cocktail layered with kaffir lime, lemongrass and honey. Fresh and herbal, the drink returns the experience to the ingredients and traditions that inspired the collection.
A Contemporary Celebration by the Ocean
Henry Scott, General Manager of COMO Canggu, said the collection was created to celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day in a way that felt joyful and authentic to COMO Beach Club.
“Flavours of Freedom brings together familiar Indonesian ingredients and stories in a fresh, contemporary form. Each cocktail has its own personality, but collectively they express our pride in Indonesia and the remarkable diversity of flavours found across the archipelago.”
Designed to be enjoyed beside the Indian Ocean, the collection invites guests to discover Indonesia one glass at a time, from the warmth of arak and the fragrance of pandan to the richness of gula jawa and the bright freshness of kaffir lime.
As red-and-white flags appear across Bali and the country prepares to commemorate another year of independence, Flavours of Freedom offers a relaxed and spirited way to join the celebration.
