Samsara Ubud Introduces Samsara Pustaka, A New Sanctuary for Literature, Art and Human Creativity

A thoughtfully conceived new space at Samsara Ubud invites guests to reconnect with books, Indonesian storytelling and the enduring value of human expression.

Samsara Ubud has unveiled Samsara Pustaka, a new cultural sanctuary created to celebrate literature, art, music and human creativity while introducing another meaningful dimension to the resort experience.

Designed as more than a conventional library, Samsara Pustaka offers guests an intimate setting in which books, ideas and cultural connections become part of the travel experience. The concept reflects the resort’s belief that even amid rapid advances in artificial intelligence and digital innovation, authentic human expression remains irreplaceable.

The space also places particular emphasis on Indonesian literature. Samsara Pustaka aims to provide a platform for independent Indonesian authors from across the archipelago, helping introduce guests to the diverse voices and perspectives shaping the country’s contemporary literary landscape. At the same time, the initiative encourages visitors to rediscover the simple pleasure of reading and engaging with stories at a slower, more reflective pace.

The soft launch began with a welcome from Paulus Tuasuun, General Manager of Samsara Ubud, who presented Samsara Pustaka as a place where guests can pause, reflect and experience the transformative power of storytelling.

The evening also featured an address from Bayu Sarwono, Owner of Samsara Ubud, who spoke about the importance of preserving spaces that encourage creativity and cultural appreciation. His message reflected the philosophy behind Samsara Pustaka: while technology may continue to reshape how people create and communicate, stories remain fundamentally human, and spaces dedicated to imagination and Indonesian voices retain an enduring significance.

Adding another dimension to the launch, acclaimed Indonesian author Dee Lestari presented an exclusive poetry session, transforming literature from the written page into a shared experience of emotion, reflection and inspiration.

The evening concluded with an Indonesian culinary journey curated by Chef Iwan Sutrisno, Executive Chef of Samsara Ubud. Inspired by the heritage of the Indonesian archipelago, the menu celebrated authenticity, craftsmanship and the cultural stories embedded within the country’s diverse culinary traditions.

Through Samsara Pustaka, Samsara Ubud is seeking to create something that extends beyond the addition of a new resort facility. The space is envisioned as a sanctuary for guests who appreciate literature, art and music—a setting where curiosity can flourish, creativity can be celebrated and meaningful connections can naturally take shape.

Set amid the natural surroundings of Bali, Samsara Ubud itself combines contemporary Balinese design with private villas featuring heated pools and generous outdoor spaces. The resort is also part of the L.V.X. Collection by Preferred Hotels & Resorts, positioning Samsara Pustaka as another expression of the property’s broader focus on distinctive and culturally rooted guest experiences.
