Discover Payangan Through Anantara Ubud Bali Resort's New Payangan Sidecar Journey
A signature journey through Bali’s timeless villages, rice terraces and authentic local life aboard a classic sidecar.
Anantara Ubud Bali Resort has introduced the Payangan Sidecar Journey, a new Signature Experience that takes guests through the countryside aboard a classic sidecar. Accompanied by a local host, travelers explore the villages of Bukian, Puhu, and Kebek, passing rice terraces and traditional family compounds along quiet rural roads.
The journey offers a closer look at everyday life in Payangan, with a leisurely pace that allows guests to take in the landscape and learn about the community’s traditions. Two options are available: a 30- to 45-minute countryside ride or an extended experience that includes a private picnic in Begawan Village.
The picnic experience brings guests to a private rice field and a traditional Balinese family compound. A three-course menu includes dishes such as Sate Maranggi, tamarind-marinated beef ribeye skewers, and Bebek Goreng Sambal Madura, crispy duck leg served with sambal kluwek, alongside a choice of desserts and refreshing beverages.
For Santiago Sagaz, General Manager of Anantara Ubud Bali Resort, the experience reflects the resort’s approach to connecting guests with its destination. Exploring Payangan with a local host places the villages, landscapes, and traditions at the center of the journey.
The experience also has a personal connection for Made Warnata, Director of Spa, Wellness and Recreation. A Payangan local, he welcomes guests into his community and to his family’s rice field for the picnic, sharing the stories and surroundings of the place he calls home.
Recommended departures are between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. or from 3:30 p.m., with the final departure at 4:00 p.m. Each departure accommodates a maximum of two guests. The experience is suitable for adults, couples, and families with children aged five and above.
The Payangan Sidecar Journey is priced at IDR 1,750,000++ for a private single experience and IDR 2,450,000++ for a private couple experience. The Payangan Sidecar Journey with Picnic costs IDR 2,850,000++ for a private single experience and IDR 4,750,000++ for a private couple experience. Advance reservations are recommended.
Joining the resort’s collection of Signature Experiences, the journey gives guests another way to explore the countryside around Anantara Ubud Bali Resort, with local hosts offering insight into the communities along the route.
